oliveira Jr. Member Portugal Posts: 90 Scratch-build a model of HMS BELLONA « on: April 02, 2008, 10:48:10 PM » In December 1757 a new ship was ordered by the Navy Board; she was one of the first British 74 gun and the prototype of a brand new class of man-of-war that should form the backbone of the British battle fleet. HMS Bellona was a 74-gun Bellona-class third-rate  ship of the line of the Royal Navy. Designed by Sir Thomas Slade, she was a prototype for the iconic 74-gun ships of the latter part of the 18th century. Bellona  was built at Chatham,  starting on 10 May 1758, launched on 19 February 1760, and commissioned three days later.
