« Latest: by Member on July 29, 2011, 06:25:13 PM »

Ever wondered how it would feel to sail a half a million ton Supertanker through the perfect storm? To take on illegal whale hunters in the Antarctic? Or to feel the tension as you evacuate an oil rig crew threatened by disaster? Ship Simulator Extremes offers exciting and realistic missions as you pilot an impressive array of vessels, and live the story of real ship captains.

Featuring stunning visuals, accurate vessel behaviour, famous locations and ports all over the world and missions based on actual events, this is one ship simulator game that you cannot afford to miss.

Half Hull Models in the Finest Handcrafted Traditions

Depicting realistic sails using a laminated wood process that is unique to the craft.

Grand Banks Schooner Bluenose - 1921
Model 26” x 22"

Using only select hardwoods, i.e., wenge, aspen, holly, walnut, maple, padauk, bloodwood, mahogany, and obeche to bring out the beauty of the hull form. Each model is based on an historic ship whose plan can be found in the Smithsonian Collection of Ship Plans or other historic sources such as Howard Chapelle’s “The History of American Sailing Ships” and “The History of The American Sailing Navy.”

The addition of sails on these models bridges the utilitarian use of the model to the artistic use.

We recommend you have an exceptional visit to  SpringWoodWorks

I'm building a Half Hull or a Ship Model / Re: Build a half hull kit
« Latest: by Halfpint on January 27, 2009, 09:01:48 PM »
:) This kit was my first half-model, and it turned out surprisingly well. It wasn't perfect enough to varnish, so I painted it. If I had known how hard it is to find .5" x 3" x 24 boards, I would have done it totally in basswood [buying extra pieces on line], and saved the mahogany for when I was able to carve a half-hull and varnish it. Since the kit, I built another Endeavor [save the instructions and the cutouts], then bought some plans from the Wooden Boat Store. I particularly like the Friendship Sloop, and have made several of them for family and friends at work.

« Latest: by Member on August 12, 2008, 03:08:17 PM »
Hello. back for a little.

over the winter i build a 7'9" hydroplane in my garage. For a school project I took the lines off of it, lofted it full scale on the floor.  then i scaled it all down and constructed a half model of it.  Easier said then done but here it is.

heres a few construction shots of the real one. i really dont have any of it done lol.

Decor and Replica Art / Wooden Sailing Ship Model Building Process & Build Quality
« Latest: by Member on June 01, 2008, 03:12:31 PM »
It is of prime importance that the customer understands the level of quality, the raw materials used, craftsmanship and amount of dedicated work that is invested in each one of our model ships. Our model makers (master craftsmen) are highly talented and dedicated individuals specifically selected & employed by us for their individual skills and craftmanship. This section aims at highlighting all the important steps in the building of our wooden plank on frame ship models. You will have undoubtedly come across many ship builders who produce very low quality routinely built ship models. Therefore as the customer you need to be very careful when choosing a wooden model sailboat or as there are many out there built with little quality. In stark contrast, we focus on quality. We believe in using the best materials, a thorough build process & giving the ship models the highest level of care during this process.
