Beetle Whale Boat HalfHull
Beetle Whaleboat
This was a boat that was carried on a whale ship to hunt the whales. These boats were built by the hundreds and one of the favored was the Beetle whaleboat It was 28'11" long and had a beam of 6'7". It was developed by Charles Beetle. They were good for about one voyage and cost about $50.00 in 1850. It was a fine sea boat, not only well adapted to its function but also handsome.
